Jim Jones Lost It All?! Why I Understand His Stance on Max B

If you’re from anywhere in New York State, there’s a 99.9% chance you’ve been a Jim Jones fan at some point. 🫡‼️

But with that being said… being a Jim Jones fan can be TOUGH, man. 😂 Jimmy is unpredictable, outspoken, and sometimes you never know what he’s going to say next — but honestly, that’s part of why people have rocked with him for so many years.

Recently, clips have been circulating online of Jim Jones speaking about Max B, and once again the possibility of the two Harlem legends reuniting became a topic of conversation.

A lot of fans have been hoping that enough time has passed for Jim and Max to eventually put their differences aside and possibly make music together again.

According to Jim, though, IT’S A NO-GO. ‼️

Jim made it clear that, from his perspective, there’s basically no chance of him and Max B working together again. And after everything that happened between them, Jim doesn’t seem interested in betting his time, money or energy on that situation twice.

And this is where some people might get mad at me…

I Actually Understand Jim Jones

Outside of Harlem and the hardcore New York hip-hop scene, would Max B have become as well-known without his connection to Jim Jones and ByrdGang?

That’s a legitimate question.

Jim invested money, time, resources and opportunities into trying to help Max become successful. The crazy part is that Max B really WAS hot — musically.

The problem, in my opinion, was that Max could also be “hot” in another way: hot-headed, unpredictable and not always willing to listen.

When you’re investing your own money, reputation and career into another artist, eventually you have to ask yourself:

How many times am I supposed to take the loss?

If I were Jim Jones, my answer might be “HELL NO” too. 😂‼️

Jimmy spent a lot of time trying to put other people from his circle and his neighborhood in position. Whether you agree with every decision Jim made or not, it’s hard to argue that he didn’t invest heavily into the people around him.

And while all of this was happening, Jim had his own career to worry about.

You could even argue that Jim’s career never completely regained the momentum it had during the height of the Dipset/ByrdGang era. If Jim feels like he sacrificed years, money and opportunities trying to make the situation work, I can understand why he wouldn’t be interested in revisiting it now.

That doesn’t mean Max B wasn’t talented.

Max B was DIFFERENT. 🌊

His influence, melodies, slang and overall style left a real mark on New York hip-hop. There’s a reason people are still talking about him all these years later.

But two things can be true at once:

Max B can be incredibly talented AND Jim Jones can feel like he’s already lost enough betting on that relationship.

Personally, I’d love to see everybody put the past behind them one day. A Jim Jones and Max B reunion would be a huge moment for New York hip-hop.

But does Jim Jones owe Max B another opportunity?

I don’t think he does.
